1981 book:
 Larz Anderson, Sr., was a brother of Gen. Robert Anderson, commander at Fort 
Sumter when it was attacked by South Carolina in 1861, and an uncle of Larz 
Anderson, the prominent diplomat who built Anderson House in Washington, D.C. (now 
the Museum of the Society of the Cincinnati). Catherine Longworth was a sister of 
Nicholas Longworth, the prominent politician for whom the Longworth House Office 
Building in Washington, D.C., is named.
	Larz Anderson, husband of Emma Mendenhall, earned his law degree from 
Harvard Law School. He was vice-president of the Union Savings Bank and Trust Co., 
and trustee of the Anderson and Longworth estates. Larz was director of the Citizens 
National Bank and Citizens Mortgage Loan Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. He was founder and 
director of the Fresh Air Society and Convalescent Home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Larz was 
a member of the Episcopal Church.
Emma and her family lived in Cincinnati, Ohio.
	After Larz died, Emma donated Anderson Park in his memory to the city of 
Cincinnati,Ohio.
