1981 book:
Lawrence was educated in the public schools of Cincinnati, Ohio, and at Earlham
College in Richmond, Ind. Lawrence operated a builders supply house and was
secretary of the Builders Exchange. He wrote poems, histories, and short stories, and
was a friend of James Whitcomb Riley. Lawrence also was director of the Cincinnati
Exposition, a member of the Cincinnati Art Club, a Republican, and a founder of
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Lawrence and Margaret had no children.
Joseph E. Maule (1E542) states, in his "Genealogy of Charles P. Maule":
"Lawrence Mendenhall..., General Manufacturers Agent, 237 West 4th St., Cincinnati,
Ohio, called to see me about 11th mo. 1895. He is preparing a book of the Maule
family...He appears to be an intelligent man." No such book has been discovered by
the author.
