Death of Mrs. William Markham - Mrs. Betsy Markham, aged 79, the widow of Mr. 
William Markham, died on the 12th instant in Knoxville at the home of her son, Mr. 
Albert Markham.  She had spent most of her life in that borough.  She was a daughter 
of Benjamin Guiles and was born in Otsego county, N.Y. , but in girlhood came with 
her parents to Deerfield township, in Tioga county.  She became, 58 years ago, the 
wife of Mr. Markham, who died 19 years ago.  Four children were born to them, but 
only one of them, her son, Mr. Charles D. Markham, the Potterbrook storekeeper, 
survives her, besides the son named previously.  The deceased suffered greatly from 
rheumatism and for nearly 20 years preceding her death had been unable to walk.  
She was a devoted Christian.  Both she and her husband were charter members of the 
Disciples' church society in Knoxville.
