NEWPORT, RI--Joan E. Hosch Reiland, 82, of Newport, RI, died Tuesday, February 
13, 2007 at the Village House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Harrison Avenue, 
Newport.

Born in Newport, RI on July 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Debar C. Hosch and 
Margaret C. Hussey Hosch. She graduated from Rogers High School, Class of 1942 
and Pembroke College, Class of 1946.

As a young woman she worked for Eppley Labs in Newport and then for Raytheon 
Company in Portsmouth. Joan then continued to work for the Newport School 
Department, and after 20 years, retired in 1986. She was a life member of the Rhode 
Island Retired Teachers Association.

While she was a parishioner of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport, Joan was active and 
taught C.C.D. She was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Newport.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Gallipeau of Newport; her grandson, Richard 
Gallipeau; her granddaughter, Ruth Ott; her brothers, Paul D. Hosch of Norfolk, CT 
and John F. Hosch of Middletown, RI; her sisters, Fay M. Kerins of Naples, FL and 
Middletown, RI and Ellen H. Lauzon of Middletown, RI.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at St. Augustin 
Church, Newport at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown, 
RI.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 16, 2007 at the O'Neill-Hayes Funeral 
Home, Newport from 4-7:00 p.m.
