In Oct 1984, The Kinmundy Express (Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois) has, "Edith 
(Irvin) Nichols (1887-1984) Edith Nichols, 97, Dies Edith NICHOLS, 97, of Henderson, 
Kentucky, formerly of Kinmundy-Patoka area, passed away Monday, October 1, 1984 
at 7 p.m. at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson, Ky. She was born in Patoka, the 
daughter of Arthur and Rosa WALTON IRVIN. She married A. D. NICHOLS in Patoka, 
September 5, 1911, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1968. Survivors 
include two daughter, Lucille HEADLEY of Henderson, Kentucky, and Lela DOOLEN 
of Kinmundy; two grandchildren and two great-granchildren. Mrs. NICHOLS was a 
lifelong resident in the Kinmundy-Patoka area until she moved to Kentucky about three 
years ago. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in rural Patoka. 
Funeral services will be today (Thursday) at the Cox, Martin & Day Funeral Home in 
Patoka with Rev. John Hartleroad officiating the 10 a.m. service. Interment will be in 
Jones Cemetery in rural Patoka."
