General Notes:
Hattie was small, with blue eyes like Sam and Phil. She went to a private school, I 
think the name was The Tyson sisters school for girls. She wrote beautifully and was 
an avid reader with a great sense of history. I still find that people who live in the DC 
area are more interested in the larger picture of world affairs than the majority in 
smaller communties. I can remember her getting me up in the middle of the night to 
hear a radio broadcast when King Edward abdicated, and inaugurations, funerals of 
the famous etc. went on we always shared it. She had many stories of Washington's 
oldtime families and was very entertaining. She said she had been spoiled, being the 
baby of the family, and I have two notes written to her by her father when he was 
traveling in the south, calling her his precious baby, and to be good to her Mama, etc. 
She was also creative. Whenever
we neighborhood kids would get bored in summer and whine there was nothing to do, 
she could come up with something new and different. She is buried at Arlington 
National Cemetery next to her husband Dale. It is marked "Hattie Browne" in section 
31, site 6267.
