Ethel D. Quedenfeld of Libertyville 

 Memorial services for Ethel D. Quedenfeld, 88, will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 
1, at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. Interment will be in 
Hillside Cemetery in Antioch. 

 Ethel died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. 

 Ethel was a lifelong resident of Gurnee, living in Libertyville for the past year. She 
was a graduate of Warren High School in Gurnee and from Illinois State University 
with a bachelor's degree. Ethel was a home economics teacher at Antioch High 
School and also at Warren High School for many years. She was a longstanding 
member of Gurnee Community Church where she was a former board member and 
deacon, and also was involved in numerous community activities. Those who knew 
her well remember her apple pies and her no nonsense practical approach to solving 
problems and helping others. 

 She is survived by three children, Julie A. (Harry) Galloway of Belvidere, Carl 
Quedenfeld of Indianapolis, Ind. and Kathryn J. Hancock of Libertyville; five 
grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Conboy of Roscoe, Ill., Tim (Stephanie) Galloway of Boston, 
Mass., David Hancock of Wonder Lake, Chad Hancock of San Francisco, Calif. and 
Jeffrey Svehla of Chicago; one brother, Robert C. Dixon of Gurnee; numerous nieces 
and nephews; and will be missed by many friends. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Henry Quedenfeld Jr. in 1952; a granddaughter, Cora Ann Svehla, in 1985; a 
son-in-law, Dr. Arthur A. Hancock, in 2005; and also by six brothers and sisters. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gurnee Community Church in her memory.
