Deviating from the values and morals of his ancestors and his descendants, Elmer was 
a member of the Ku Klux Klan.Reportedly he was Grand Dragon at one time.The 
Ingersolls before him were noted abolitionists.His descendants, truly believing that 
each person stands on his own merits, chose their friends and associates according to 
compatabity of lifestyles and beliefs.Ironically, Elmer's great granddaughter married a 
black man and was blessed with a beautiful son as a result.
