Eunice met Silvio when she was a student nurse in Chicago.He was visiting a friend, 
saw Eunice, asked her out and 5 years later they married.She gave up nursing and 
worked in the headquarters for Sears, Roebuck & Co. until Caroline was born.She was 
a housewife until David was a young child, then she became an Avon 
representative.After that she did office work until her death.She was very talented in 
any type of crafts. Doll making, leather work, knitting, sewing, building doll houses, 
and embroidery were just a few of her interests.She also played piano.
Silvio and Eunice always celebrated their wedding anniversary on September 
4.Records show they were actually married June 24, 1939, almost 15 months before 
the date they celebrated.The witnesses shown on the original marriage certificate from 
the earliest date lists Robert Hoffman and Lorraine Giles as their witnesses.Bob 
Hoffman was Silvio's closest friend.The rest of this story is the way I remember Eunice 
telling it.Bob and Lorraine went to Valparaiso, IN to get married.At that time, there was 
no blood test or waiting period required (as there was in Illinois).Silvio and Eunice 
were to be their witnesses.Upon their arrival, Eunice told Silvio to fish or cut bait, so 
to speak.After five years of dating, she wanted marriage or she was going to find 
someone else.They were married.
Silvio and his family were stubbornly Catholic, however, and to please his family and 
accommodate the beliefs that Eunice had by now adopted, on September 4, 1940, 
they married again at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Chicago.Bob Hoffman was 
Silvio's best man, but this time, Eunice chose Silvio's sister Perine as her matron of 
honor.
