born in a bombed out building in Germany. His family had left Ukraine "to escape 
Communism" at the end of World War II. For his first six years, he lived, with his 
family, in a Displaced Persons Camp in Germany. In 1951, the family was allowed to 
move to the United States and they lived in Minneapolis, MN for the next four or five 
years. They then moved to Chicago, IL.
He met Caroline when she was dating his brother, Victor. 
He died as a result of many years of alcohol abuse.
