Jo R. Copeland, a former resident of Redlands, died Tuesday, June 29, in Olathe, 
Kan., following an illness. She was 80.

She was born Sept. 18, 1923, to George and Elizabeth Ransbarger and had lived in 
Redlands from 1955 to 1973. She had also lived in Texas and Kansas.

While in Redlands, she had worked at Gerrard's Market and was president of the 
Women's Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1960.

She was an active member of the Redlands Church of the Nazarene, directing the 
choir there, and was a Cub Scout den mother.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Eber L. Copeland; three daughters, 
Virginia Morgan …

Jo R. Copeland, 80, passed away June 29, 2004 in Olathe. A fellowship time for family 
and friends will be Tuesday, July 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Chapel, 14275 S. 
Blackbob Rd, Olathe. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at 
College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan, Olathe. 
Jo was born in Balinger Tex. on September 18, 1923, to George and Elizabeth 
Ransbarger. She was devoted to her husband and children. She gave her life to 
serving her savior, Jesus Christ, her family, and others. Her life’s journey took her to 
residences in Texas, California and Kansas. 
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine Hyer of Ogden, Utah; and 
Margaret Harlin of Lone Grove, Okla. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, 
Eber L. Copeland; children, Virginia Morgan of Healdsburg, Calif., Peggy Baldwin of 
Kula, Hawaii, Sarah Draper, Michael Copeland and Paul Copeland, all of Olathe; 
eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Willis Ransbarger. 
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to the Billy Graham Evangelistic 
Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC, 28201.
