BOYLSTON -- Eleanor R. (Rayner) Hagstrom Nylen, 86, formerly of 3 Hillside Ave., a 
former business owner, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled 
Nursing Center, Westboro. 

 Her husband, Everett A. Nylen, died in 1980. She leaves a daughter, Dr. Judith E. 
Singer of Lexington; a brother, Harvey E. Rayner of Worcester; a sister, Persis Slayter 
of Worcester; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her 
first husband, Lawrence J. Hagstrom, died in 1960. A son, David L. Hagstrom, died in 
1991. A brother, Cal Rayner of Berlin, and three sisters, Betty P. Rayner of St. 
Petersburg, Fla., Virginia Colebrook and Geraldine Chase, both of Boylston, also 
predeceased her. She was born in Prince Edward Island, daughter of Elijah and Edith 
(Knox) Rayner, and lived many years in Boylston. She graduated from North High 
School, Worcester, in 1933. 

 Mrs. Nylen owned Boylston Center Store for 20 years, retiring in 1976. She was a 
trustee and longtime member of First Congregational Church. 

 The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in First Congregational 
Church of Boylston, 10 Church St. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Pine 
Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Donations may be 
made to First Congregational Church of Boylston Memorial Fund, 10 Church St., 
Boylston, MA 01505, or to Boylston Library Foundation, 695 Main St., Boylston, MA 
01505. Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, is 
directing arrangements.
