	Walter attended Friends Primary School, Harrisville, Ohio, and Friends 
Boarding School, Barnesville, Ohio, graduating in 1899. He then attended Westtown 
Friends School, Westtown, Pa. Walter taught at Friends School, Winona, Ohio.
Martha taught at Friends School, Winona, Ohio. After they married, Walter and Martha 
lived in Colerain, Ohio, with Walter's mother Susan. They commenced an ice cream 
business, called "Thomas' Strictly Pure", and also operated a restaurant in Martins 
Ferry, Ohio. Later, they acquired one-half of Walter's parents' farm from Gilbert 
Thomas (1E72443). Walter also served as salesman for various enterprises, and he 
and his children raised turkeys.
	Walter died in a truck-train accident while driving home from taking ice 
cream to the Scio Community Sale.
	Martha lived on the home place except for several years when she lived with 
her son Leslie in Baltimore, Md.
