Jack was raised in a house on Ridgewood Terrace in Chappaqua that is still standing 
today. He often expressed fond memories of the active outdoor lifestyle of his youth 
and tried to pass on his love of the outdoors to his children. 

Jack graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1943 with a degree in 
mechanical engineering. He served in the Navy as Lieutenant JG stationed in Brazil 
during WWII. After the war, he worked in management at the Donaldson Company, 
Inc. for many years and later became Vice President of the CharLynn Corporation in 
Eden Prairie, Minnesota. 

He married Helen Joyce Parlin in September of 1943. They had 6 children--2 boys and 
4 girls. Helen died in the spring of 1974 and Jack married Beatrice Bridenstine 
Rosevear with whom he spent the rest of his life until his death in 1995.
