I'm not sure where you got the "Sloc" from but I do know where you got the "Slay"  
That was me.  I always thought her name was Slay until the internet took off.  Since 
then I have found school records, obituaries, mom's birth certificate, passports, etc. 
all with "Slee"  Her first name and middle are more variable coming sometimes as 
Lucile, Luceille Madeline, Madeleine and usually, but not always with Luceille as the 
first name although I never heard Luceille until doing research.  We knew her as 
Madeleine and grandpa used "Madge."  I've settled on Luceille Madeleine (Slee) 
Parlin, since most of the later government documents have her name that way.
Luceille's parents were Luceille Belle (Remington) Slee and John Slee.  All I know 
about them is their marriage date:  June 23, 1875
Family story is that Madeleine was adopted, I assume by John and Luceille, but I don't 
know for sure.  Her obit has her born in LaGrange, Missouri.
Luceille got her B.A. at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill in 1917 where, 
apparently, she met grandpa.  Busy year for grandma because she graduated, married 
and went to China that year.  She was a teacher.
