	Frances was educated in the public schools of Fairmount, Neb., and 
Lincoln, Neb., at St. Mary's Academy in Notre Dame, Ind., and at the University of 
Nebraska, graduating in 1900.
	Frances began her career as a newspaper reporter in Denver, Col., in 1909. 
She then became a freelance writer, an advertising copy writer, a radio script writer, 
and editor of "The Independent Woman", a position she held from 1943 through the 
1960's. She contributed many articles to magazines between 1934 and 1957. Frances 
was a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's 
Clubs. Frances was an early campaigner for women's suffrage.
	Among the books written by Frances are "She Strives to Conquer" (1934), 
"Men Wanted" (1937), "The Road to Anywhere" (1938), "Your Next Job" (1939), 
"Selling" (1940), "Girl With A Paycheck" (1942), "Careers for the Home Economist" 
(1943),and "Executive Careers for Women" (1961).
	Edwin was a reporter for the New York Times. Frances and Edwin were 
divorced in 1918. They had no children.
	Frances lived for many years in Woodstock, N.Y.

In Inarticulate Longings, by Jennifer Scanlon, on google books, there are several 
paragraphs about her and Florence. They belonged to Heterodoxy, a "band of willful 
women" in NYC that were among the first to use "feminism" in a self-conscious and 
deliberate way.
