Henry lived in Phila., Pa. Henry continued in the lumber business which his father and 
uncle started. He moved the lumber company from Broad and Spruce Streets to 17th 
and Spruce Streets and in 1862 to 25th and South Streets. The deeds and other 
papers relating to the latter move still exist, and are held by the author. Henry 
expanded the lumber business into a seed business and lumber business. At one time, 
Burpee was involved in the seed venture but went his own way to establish Burpee's 
Seeds.
	Henry was one of the first members of the Union League in Phila., Pa. He 
also was a Mason and a trustee of the West Spruce Street Presbyterian Church.
	In the 1870 Pennsylvania census, Henry's house is listed at a value of 
$40,000 and his personalty is valued at $125,000.
