Charles H. Anstey, who worked as a maintenance welder for Harrison Radiator 
Division, General Motors Corp., in Lockport, died Saturday (May 15, 1999) in his Ryan 
Road home after a brief illness. He was 83. 

 A Barre native, Anstey married Annabel Schrader. For many years, they lived in East 
Shelby, where they raised a family. 

 He retired from Harrison in 1977 and also had worked for the H.J. Heinz Co. and 
Friends Manufacturing in Gasport. 

 Anstey also ran his own welding shop from his home in East Shelby. 

 In 1966, he and his wife moved to Yates. They remodeled several homes on the shore 
of Lake Ontario. 

 Anstey was a charter member of Shelby Fire Company, a member of the Loyal Order of 
Moose in Medina and a member of East Shelby Community Bible Church. 

 He enjoyed carpentry, traveling and camping. 

 In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Gail Culver and Cheryl Tuttle; 
four brothers, Vincent of South Carolina, Roderick of Florida, Norman of Paris, Tenn., 
and Cedric; a sister, Naomi Watts; four grandchil-dren; and five great-grandchildren. 

 A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. 
Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.
