Roderick N. "Dick" Anstey, 92, of Venice, formerly of Medina, N.Y., died Sept. 9, 
2009. 

 A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes, Venice. 

 Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marie; son Roderick Jr. of Denver; daughter 
Lynn Rumrill of Apalachin, N.Y.; brothers Norman of Paris, Tenn. and Cedric of 
Medina; sister Naomi Watts of Medina; five grandchildren, Amy Quinn, Jonathan, Neil, 
Robert and Jane Rumrill; and two great-grandchildren, Brennan and Jude. 

 He was born July 1, 1917 in Medina, the son of Thomas and Kathryn Vincent Anstey. 

 Dick lived in Venice for the past 22 years. Prior to that, he lived most of his life in 
and near Medina. 

 After graduating from Medina Central High School, he worked in Buffalo, N.Y. At the 
outbreak of World War II, he joined the United States Marine Corps, served in the 
Pacific, and achieved the rank of master technical sergeant. 

 He returned to his hometown after the war, where he worked for New York Central 
Railroad, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., and Medina Parts Company, where he retired 
as the manager of the Albion Automotive branch in 1979. 

 He was a long-time member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 
life member of the Knights of Columbus, and member Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic 
Church. 

 Memorials may be made to TideWell Hospice.
